18 — HQ 001. Documented.

Four pieces. 200 units. One formation.
HQ 001 is complete. This post is the record of it — what was made, how it was made, what the decisions were, and what remains. Not a retrospective. A document. The kind of thing that should exist for every formation, so that when HQ 002 arrives, there is something to measure it against.
The Four Pieces
aegis. — The heavyweight hoodie. 400gsm ring-spun loop-back fleece. Boxy silhouette, dropped shoulder, wide kangaroo pocket, substantial hood. The outer layer of the formation. Available in washed black, grey, and stone. Grey and stone sold out.
thorax. — The heavyweight sweatshirt. 400gsm ring-spun loop-back fleece. Crewneck, boxy body, clean hem. The mid-layer. Available in washed black, grey, and stone. Grey and stone sold out.
peplos. — The oversized tee. 400gsm single-jersey ring-spun cotton. Dropped shoulder, wide body, hem below the hip. The base layer. Available in washed black, grey, and stone. Grey and stone sold out.
podea. — The heavyweight joggers. 400gsm French terry ring-spun cotton. Wide leg, straight open hem, no taper. Available in washed black, grey, and stone. Grey and stone sold out.
All four pieces: 400gsm. Ring-spun cotton. Tonal four-bar mark on the left chest. Washed black, grey, stone. 200 units per colourway. No restock.
The Fabric
400gsm. The number that every decision in HQ 001 starts from.
Ring-spun cotton: the yarn is twisted continuously during spinning, which aligns the fibres and produces a smoother, stronger, denser thread than open-end spun cotton. The result is a fabric that holds its shape under repeated wear and washing, develops character rather than deteriorating, and has a surface that improves with use rather than degrading.
Loop-back fleece construction on the aegis. and thorax.: smooth ring-spun face on the exterior, looped pile on the interior. The loops create micro-pockets of trapped air that act as insulation independent of the fabric's mass. Two warmth mechanisms working simultaneously. Neither requires the other to function.
Single-jersey on the peplos.: the same ring-spun cotton, constructed as a single layer. At 400gsm, single-jersey has enough mass to drape without clinging and hold its silhouette without structure. It is heavier than most outerwear sold at twice the price.
French terry on the podea.: a loop construction on the interior with a smooth face on the exterior, lighter than loop-back fleece but with the same structural integrity. The jogger moves with the body rather than against it.
All four fabrics: 100% ring-spun cotton. No synthetic blend. No spandex. No elastane. The fabric is what it is, and what it is is enough.
The Mark
Four horizontal bars. Each one shorter than the one below. Stacked vertically, left-aligned. The formation ascending from the base.
Tonal embroidery on the left chest of every HQ 001 piece. Same colour as the garment. In washed black, black on black. In grey, grey on grey. In stone, stone on stone. Visible to people who look closely. Invisible to people who don't.
The mark is not a logo designed to be recognised at distance. It is a construction detail designed to be found. The person who finds it is the person the formation was built for. The person who doesn't is not the customer. Both outcomes are correct.
The four bars are a staircase. The staircase is a direction. The direction is up. That is the entire brief. Everything else — the fabric weight, the silhouette, the colourways, the construction at the edges — follows from that direction.
What Remains
Grey and stone sold out across all four pieces. Washed black remains available while stock lasts.
When washed black sells out, HQ 001 is complete. There is no restock. There is no second run. The 200 units that were made are the 200 units that exist. What is gone is gone. What remains is available now, at the price it was always going to be, without discount, without urgency manufactured by a countdown timer.
The urgency is real. It is just quiet.
HQ 002 is not announced. It will arrive when it is ready. The fabric decisions will be made from the same starting point: what is the correct weight, the correct construction, the correct colourway for the city and the person wearing it. The mark will be the same. The direction will be the same. The formation will be different.
This is the record of the first one.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is HQ 001?
The first formation from echelonn. Four pieces: aegis. heavyweight hoodie, thorax. heavyweight sweatshirt, peplos. oversized tee, podea. heavyweight joggers. 200 units per colourway. Washed black, grey, and stone. Grey and stone sold out. Washed black available while stock lasts. No restock.
What fabric is used across HQ 001?
400gsm ring-spun cotton throughout. Loop-back fleece on the aegis. and thorax. Single-jersey on the peplos. French terry on the podea. 100% cotton, no synthetic blend, no spandex. The fabric is the same weight across all four pieces. The construction varies by function.
Will HQ 001 be restocked?
No. 200 units were made. When they are gone, they are gone. Grey and stone are already sold out. Washed black remains. There is no restock timed to demand, no second run because the first did well. What exists, exists.
When is HQ 002?
Not announced. It will arrive when it is ready. The fabric decisions will start from the same point. The mark will be the same. The formation will be different. There is no timeline to share because the timeline is the work, not the calendar.
What does the four-bar mark mean?
Four horizontal bars, each shorter than the one below, ascending left to right. A staircase. A direction. Tonal embroidery on the left chest of every HQ 001 piece — same colour as the garment. Visible to people who look closely. The mark is not a logo. It is a direction stitched into the fabric.
